Environmental protection is the duty and obligation of all who live on Earth. Recently, American rapper Lil Dicky released the anticipating single, ‘Earth’. Lil Dicky called for a collaboration with more than 30 superstars, even the renowned movie star Leonard DiCaprio appeared in the music video (MV) as well. The whole project was to call on everyone to jointly protect our home – the Earth.
Singer Justin Bieber posted a trailer on Twitter a few days ago regarding his collaboration with Lil Dicky. There was a long collaboration list in addition to Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Sia, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Adam Levine, Katy Perry, Psy and more singers were on the list too. NBA player Joel Embiid and Leonardo DiCaprio were also invited to perform. The single began with the singing of the initiator Lil Dicky, followed by the cartoon animation which he appeared as a human. The MV was different from the usual practice that only recorded the singers singing in the studio, they were all transformed into animals. Justin Bieber became a baboon, Ariana Grande was a zebra, Ed Sheeran turned into a koala, Charlie Puth transformed into a giraffe and so on. The rich colors were attractive and caught the people’s eyes. Using music to be the force to change the world, Korean, Spanish and Chinese lyrics meaning ‘we love the earth’ could be found at the end of the song. The inspiring melodies and lyrics were moving. The appearance of animated Leonard DiCaprio marked the end of the MV. Sitting with Leonard DiCaprio in the dressing room, Lil Dicky asked him how he felt. Leonardo replied, “This might be my favorite song ever. It’s awesome”. The strong ending wrapped the positive song up. From the perspective of various animals, this song hopes to convey the concerns and worries towards the destruction we have made to the earth. The powerful line-up has successfully spread the message of ‘love the earth’.

Lil Dicky produced the song for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. It had more than 66 million views since it has been uploaded on 18 April (US time). The Leonard DiCaprio Foundation is committed to supporting the worldwide environmental project, protecting endangered animals, restoring threatened ecosystem balance. Lil Dicky also appeared on The Ellen Show to share his thoughts. After so many natural and man-made disasters, we have to reflect on the crisis on Earth. Having so many big names working together on the same project with Lil Dicky, they wish to raise public awareness about the environmental challenges the Earth is now facing.
